| Application Period April 1 – May 30, 2008 |
Applications and supporting documents can be uploaded at the Wachovia NEXT Awards Web site. All applications must be submitted online. Hard copy applications will not be accepted. The cutoff for submitting an application for the 2008 Wachovia NEXT Awards is 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on May 30, 2008. Applications will not be accepted after this deadline. |
| Evaluation Period June 1 – September 30, 2008 |
Applicants are screened for eligibility based on the requirements detailed below. Eligible Applicants are evaluated against the selection criteria for the 2008 Wachovia NEXT Awards detailed below. These criteria will be used to identify applicants that demonstrate the most extraordinary promise and exciting vision for the potential use of a major investment made by the Wachovia NEXT Awards. The applicant pool will be narrowed to a group of semi-finalists. All applicants will be notified in July via e-mail as to whether they are semi-finalists. The applicant pool will be further narrowed to a group of four finalists. Organizations selected as finalists will be notified by the end of August 2008. Detailed instructions for the next phase of the selection process will be provided at that time. |
| Selection Committee Meeting Wednesday Sept. 24th and Thursday Sept. 25th 2008 |
Finalists meet with the Wachovia NEXT Awards Selection Committee in Chicago on Wednesday Sept. 24th and Thursday Sept. 25th 2008. The Selection Committee includes senior executives from Wachovia and the MacArthur Foundation, as well as highly regarded CDFI leaders and experts in banking, social policy, philanthropy, economics, organizational development, and technology. View the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will determine the awardees. |
| Announcement December 9 –12, 2008 |
Recipients of the 2008 Wachovia NEXT Awards will be announced at the annual Opportunity Finance Network conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Finalists will not be notified prior to the conference if they are awardees. |
