2008 Round of Multi-Million Dollar Awards Program Opens for Responsible Lenders
Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) today announced the second annual round of the Wachovia NEXT Awards for Opportunity Finance – an awards program totaling $8.35 million for responsible lenders across the United States known as community development financial institutions (CDFIs). The awards are presented by Opportunity Finance Network and funded by The Wachovia Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

Wachovia NEXT Awards Applications Update
The application window closed on Monday, August 20, for the premiere round of the Wachovia NEXT Awards for Opportunity Finance in partnership with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. On December 12, 2007, in Miami, Florida, the Wachovia NEXT Awards will recognize six (6) outstanding CDFIs based on the applications received.

$42 Million Awards Program to Support Community Development Financial Institutions Aiding Low-Income and Low-Wealth People
The Wachovia Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the Opportunity Finance Network will award $42 million to exceptional community development financial institutions (CDFIs) serving low-income and low-wealth people throughout the U.S. Today, they announced their partnership and launched a new five-year program called the “Wachovia NEXT Awards for Opportunity Finance.”
